
Bellamy Young (born Amy Maria Young; February 19, 1970)[1Bellamy Young is an American actor, producer, and vocalist, who is most famous for her portrayal of Melody "Mellie" Grant in the ABC drama show Scandal (2012-2018). In recognition of her performance, she was awarded the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting actor in an Drama Series in 2014. She starred in the 2019 season in the role of Prodigal Son on Fox. Young began her acting career as an actor at the theater. Her Broadway debut came in 1997 as Mary In The Life. As well as the Broadway debut, she has performed off-Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's musical Merrily You Roll Along (1994) or in Randy Newman's Faust (95-1996). The year 1995 was the year she made her TV debut on a recurring character on The NBC daytime soap show Another World as Dr. Courtney Evans. In 1997 and 1998, she guest starred in two roles on Law & Order. In 1999 , she made her debut in film with one small part in the crime drama Black and White and later was a co-star in a number of independent films. In the early 2000s she started appearing as guest-star characters on several television comedies and dramas like The Drew Carey Show, The X Files, ER, Frasier, The West Wing, NCIS, Medium, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Two and a Half Men, Supernatural, Drop Dead Diva, and Castle. Young has appeared in more than thirty television shows between 2000 and 2011.
